Why is the course named Challedon?
We are named after a Maryland-bred horse.  Challedon was twice named Horse of the Year, in 1939 and 1940.  Challedon won the 1939 Preakness and is the only horse to have won two Pimlico specials.  Before retiring in 1942, Challedon won or placed in 23 stakes and set a then world record of 1:54 for a mile and three-sixteenths.1939 Preakness Finish
